Educational talks

Headteacher Theresa Goodrich reference - Drew Primary School

The Jellyfish Workshop run by Project Jellyfish is highly recommended to all schools and children of all ages. I must say that our expectations were not only met but exceeded in every aspect. The warmth and professionalism extended to our staff and children by the team were exceptional, from the early booking stages, on the day and at the end of the workshop. Their knowledge and expertise demonstrated were truly commendable. Moreover, the opportunity for our children to engage in this interactive workshop was invaluable. They were exposed to a learning experience that stimulated their curiosity and creativity. The workshop leaders took the time to listen and respond to every child's questions. This educational visit really impacted not only children's writing across the school through the experience and information that they gathered but in many other areas of the curriculum like PE; and Art. I would highly recommend Project Jellyfish to all schools.

When Year 2s were learning about Living Things and Habitats, Project Jellyfish were happy to provide a question and answer session to the pupils. They were extremely accommodating, and tailored the talk specifically to the children’s learning, curriculum and year group. The use of visuals enabled the children to understand the context of the learning, as well as suitable videos. This kept the pupils engaged. The children enjoyed the talk and shared their learning through the pupil voice captured below.

Our Reception class theme was ‘Under the sea’ and so I had been looking for a local visitor or trip to really engage the children in the theme. Project jellyfish was perfect for this, they brought their Moon Jellyfish into school and set up in the hall. The children were able to see how the jellyfish change in their life cycle seeing them from polyps, to junior jellyfish, to adult jellyfish. They gave the children lots of knowledge with picture prompts for them to explore. The children circulated between the tables and observed the jellyfish at different stages of the life cycle. They also provided information about what the jellyfish ate and brought in test tubes filled with shrimp to show the

children. Mrs Chamberlain was so friendly and spoke at a level the children would understand whilst also giving them a lot of knowledge and teaching them new vocabulary.

After the visit the children were so excited about what they’d seen and were keen to share what they had learnt. They were able to recall learning from their real life experience and we created a class information book.

We thank you for coming and will definitely have you back next year.
